Brad Parker
Hello! I'm Brad, a passionate Frontend Software Engineer with over 6 years of experience in the field. I specialize primarily in NextJS and Typescript. I also have experience with React, vanilla Javascript and Ruby on Rails. With a strong focus on UX, UI design and human-computer interaction, particularly in the B2B sector, I possess a well-rounded skill set that makes me a valuable asset to any team.
Before becoming a software engineer, I honed my leadership and team-building skills as a Chef, transforming a non-existent catering operation into a thriving $4 million annual business. Leading a team of highly accomplished Chefs and Cooks, we created thousands of delicious, beautifully presented meals in every format - fine dining, buffets and family-style meals across 3 busy eateries in the La Jolla biotech sector. That experience has equipped me with the ability to motivate teams, manage complex projects, and drive successful outcomes.
Outside of work, I've been a life-long musician, recently beginning to explore my love of drumming. I enjoy keeping my inner child alive, building LEGO whenever I can find the time - particularly Lord of the Rings and Castle sets. Staying active is important to me, and while I appreciate the benefits of cardio, most of my enjoyment comes in the form of olympic & power lifting. I also love to hike - San Diego has incredible options all over the county.
Originally from Albuquerque, I’ve lived in San Diego since I was 3. I have a fulfilling life with my wife, our derpy dog, and our three lively chickens.
With this blog, I aim to share my insights, experiences, and tips related to frontend development and the tech industry. Whether you're a fellow developer, a tech enthusiast, or someone looking to break into the field, I hope you find value in my thoughts.
